Within the last month I have discovered the beautiful music of Arvo Part. So far the pieces I have really enjoyed have been his more understated and soft pieces. Of course, I am often a sucker for Horner's more understated works such as Man Without a Face and other pieces such as Cosmo. . .Old Friend from Sneakers and the Main Title from The Pelican Brief. Some of my favorite Part pieces are: (1) Spiegel im Spiegel (soft and beautiful piano reminiscent of Erik Satie's Gymnopedies); (2) Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten (piece for bells and strings); and, (3) Fratres for Strings and Percussion (reminds me of Horner's Sneakers).
You can listen on imeem here. _________________ Travis |

I love listening to Fratres. Always reminded me of Cosmo... Old Friend. _________________ "But these go to eleven."
