Step 1: Listen to "Distant Memories," Track 2 from Titanic.
Step 2: Near the end, BLARE your speakers/headphones as loud as they can go (without blowing them...)
Step 3: At the VERY LAST SECOND, listen very, very closely...
Step 4: Answer this question: Can you hear HIM?
I just now discovered this. Sorry if it's already been mentioned. Please, share any other instances like this if you know of any in Horner's scores! _________________

I've read about that but I've never heard it in all these years, not even in surround.
"Bicentennial Man" - 'A New Nervous System'. 1:50 in after the pizzicato string section comes to an end, you hear what sounds like the word 'soft' being whispered.
In the 5.1 version of "My Heart Will Go On", the rear channels are all strings, synthesized and real. In one period of silence before strings resume their performance if you turn it up loud enough you can hear him say "twelve" just before the strings play. _________________ (saying it as trailer-trash as you can...) I love the little observations like this! On Horner's "Gorky Park" (Varese VCD47260), everyone I've played it for thinks I'm crazy ("What? I don't hear anything") when I share that I swear I hear Horner, or someone, speaking in one of the tracks.
It's Track 4, "Following KGB" right as 1:33 in changes to 1:34 in, and that furious bit with the violins concludes, you hear low brass hits ending that, and it's just the backing stuff with rattling chains, snare backbeat, synths, cymbalum, etc. (an enormously cool texture, by the way - I love this track). I can swear at the 1:33-1:34 point I hear someone yelling something that sounds like "Say TUBA!". You can't really hear it with speakers or low-end headphones, but with a decent pair of, say, Sennheisers or Sony's higher-end stuff, and really turned up, it's even more obvious. 'Course, maybe I am going crazy and nothing's there, but I swear I hear a voice. It contextually make sense because it's trombones and tuba doing that low brass stuff. But who knows.
Nick and Jeremy, I'm going to check out those moments you mention tonight. |

The "Troy" recording sessions are great, despite all the CD-skipping problems. _________________ (saying it as trailer-trash as you can...) Ya dun goof'd and the consequences will NEVER be the same! |

I wonder what he was saying...
I've known about this for a long time, but could not figure out what the heck he was saying....
Mabe it is "so....." or "well...."
I think the mixer needs better headphones. _________________ "It's very flattering to get nominated, and it means a lot to me. But the score has a deeper personal meaning to me than that." -James Horner
