My Nominations For Best Composition: 2001

"Suite Two" - Band of Brothers (Michael Kamen)
"Pennies For the Ferryman" - From Hell (Trevor Jones)
"This Too Shall Pass" - The Glass House (Christopher Young)
"The Bridge of Khazad Dum" - Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Howard Shore)
"My First Bus Ride" - The Mummy Returns (Alan Silvestri)

Ok, this was just another near impossible list to narrow down to just 5, but I didn't want to cheat this time....Instead I'll give a 6-11 (again, in alphabetical order) and then Honorable Mentions

6-11
"Leave No Man Behind" - Black Hawk Down (Hans Zimmer)
"Betrayal" - Enemy at the Gates (Horner)
"Hedwig's Theme" - Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone (John Williams)
"Avarice" - Hannibal (Hans Zimmer)
"The Hill" - Hearts in Atlantis (Mychael Danna)
"Operation Dinner Out" - Spy Game (Harry Gregson-Williams)

Going on what I was saying earlier, here's the strange part: 2 of my favorite overall scores from 2001, didn't have one single cue that even made the Top 10, because I think they were just great scores from top to finish without that one stand-out cue -- A Beautiful Mind (James Horner) and Evolution (John Powell)...if "suites" had been made for these films, they easily would have cracked the Top 5.

40 Total Cues from 21 Films Made My List
Other Top Honorable Mentions

"Sail On" - The Shipping News (Young)
"The Burning Heart" - Hannibal (Zimmer)
"War" - Pearl Harbor (Zimmer)
"Prologue: One Ring to Rule Them All" - LOTR, complete score 3CD (Shore)
"The Road Goes Ever On...Part I" - LOTR, complete score 3CD (Shore)
"Of One Heart, Of One Mind" - A Beautiful Mind (Horner)
"Teaching Mathematics Again" - A Beautiful Mind (Horner)
"The Prize of One's Life" - A Beautiful Mind (Horner)
"The Crystal Chamber" - Atlantis: The Lost Empire (Newton Howard)
"I Built Myself a Life" - Life As a House (Isham)
"In Memoriam" - From Hell (T. Jones)

6 cues from Evolution (Powell):
"Cells Divide"
"The Ira Kane?"
"The Cave Waltz"
"Animal Attack"
"The Mall Chase"
"The Fire Truck"

I second Kevin on that one! Also, I'd add somewhere "The Crystal Chamber" from James Newton Howard's score to Atlantis: The Lost Empire. And I'm totally in love with Powell's score to Evolution, too! MY favourite cue, though, is "Burgled".
