Joe Odea "The Biggest Glory Fan in the World!"
Aside from my official title, My name is Joe Odea. I am 15 years old
- a sophomore IB Diploma canidate at Nogales High School, which is in
Nogales Arizona; right at the US - Mexico border. The only thing I really
do is act in our drama department here- Maroon Masque. I have since been
in about six or seven productions ranging from A Midsummer Nights
Dream, to Flowers for Algernon, for which I was the sound
designer, as well as an actor, and in which I used TONS of Horner music!
I have
currently undergone the learning of HTML and web publishing to create my
own James Horner fan page, which should be up anytime soon.
I have been a James Horner fan ever since I heard the beautiful
score in Glory , which touched and inspired me in ways I never
thought film music could do.The haunting choir to the somber mood- are
the epitome of Horner. I mean, can you honestly listen to track 11 or the
beginnig of track 12 without nearly breaking into tears?! My god, nearly
every time I listen to this I am overwhelmed. The strange thing is
that I heard the score before I was interested in film music,
therefore I didn't even think about going and buying the score. So about
two years ago I saw Glory again, this time beeing a huge film
music fan. Although I immediatly wanted to buy this, it took nearly two
years of searching, and this summer in Seattle, I finally found it!!!
I found the Shrine during a search for a Horner page. Since then I have
shared in many interesting discussions, made new friends and I would like
to believe that I have made some kind of mark here; and no I don't mean
my endless ranting and raving about Glory , which I guess made me
think of the self-appointed title...yes I know it's not as glamorus as
Horner's Biggest Fan in the Known Universe" but it's close!
I have just started to collect Horner and now my count is
about 16 or 17 Horner scores, although I do hope to increse that number
greatly in the coming years! For those interested in what I have in my
collection visit my pages' discography (which may or may not be up when
you read this) Although I have just started to spend money on
hard to find scores, I would suggest that any fan should visit Intrada
and order from them. A great selection, and wonderful support (no that was
in no way indorsed by them...HINT HINT...)
Along with my craze about Horner's music, I love Star Trek, and
computer games. Other things that I love are Clancy books, Chricton
books, and Mel Brooks movies. Anyway I suppose that does it for me, for
more info or just to talk e-mail me at
Sppamboyy@juno.com If you want to know why I am called spamboy,
e-mail me. I hope this has offered some insight as to who I am, and why I
am here. I am honored to be with the other Horner fans here, and I join
them in saying thanks to Elmo who has put hard work and determination
into what we consider a home of sorts, where we can come everyday and
talk about what brought us here in the first place--James Horner.
